Ostara Publishing

Welcome to Ostara Publishing

Ostara Publishing re-issues titles that have unjustifiably become unavailable either through the ravages of time or the forces of publishing economics. We specialise in Crime and Thriller fiction titles and our range goes from the1920s through to the 21st century. We publish thematically and currently have six series available. All our titles are published in a 'trade paperback' format and printed to order.

Cambridge Crime: Crime fiction titles set in Cambridge or with a Cambridge theme. Many titles have been unavailable for years some early titles from the 1920s and 1930s have never previously been available in a paperback format.

College Crime: Crime fiction titles set in a University or academic environment.

Clerical Crime: Crime fiction set within a church or ecclesiastical environment or with a theological principal character.

Medieval Mysteries: Crime fiction titles set in the Middle Ages.

Top Notch Thrillers: Ostara Publishing’s imprint Top Notch Thrillers aims to revive Great British thrillers which do not deserve to be forgotten. Each title has been carefully selected not just for its plot or sense of adventure but for the distinctiveness and sheer quality of its writing. The Series Editor for Top Notch Thrillers is Mike Ripley, author of the award-winning ‘Angel’ comic thrillers, co-editor of the three Fresh Blood anthologies promoting new British crime writing and, for ten years, the crime fiction critic of the Daily Telegraph. He currently writes the ‘Getting Away With Murder’ column for the e-zine Shots on www.shotsmag.co.uk

"You have chosen some very good books by first rate writers. I wish they were all still with us but at least we have their stories." - Len Deighton

Ostara Crime: aims to collect and republish quality crime writing for new readers. The series editor is Mike Ripley, an award-winning crime writer and editor who was crime fiction critic for the Daily Telegraph and then the Birmingham Post reviewing almost 1,000 crime novels in 18 years. He now writes the Getting Away With Murder column for Shots E-zine on www.shotsmag.co.uk and is also the series editor of Ostara’s Top Notch Thrillers imprint.

Ostara Originals: Whilst continuing to expand its core interest of reissuing great British thrillers and crime novels, Ostara Publishing is launching an entirely new imprint, OSTARA ORIGINALS, which will publish new crime and mystery fiction from authors with a proven track record in the genre. Using the latest Print-on-Demand techniques, Ostara Originals will appear simultaneously in hardback, trade paperback and eBook editions.

The first Ostara Original, to be published in July 2013, will be Falconer and the Rain of Blood by Ian Morson, a medieval mystery set in Oxford in 1275, which will be the ninth and final instalment of his successful William Falconer series
